Racing is a wonderful spectator sport and country racing is presented in an informal atmosphere that is welcoming to everyone.
The Jamestown Racing Club operates a non-TAB race meeting and endeavours to present a professional event to promote the positive aspects of the thoroughbred racing industry to a regional audience. Entrance to the Jamestown races is just $10/head.
The Club strives to encourage the general public to participate in the excitement of thoroughbred horse racing in the relaxed atmosphere of a picnic race meeting and to give all owners, trainers, riders and officials the opportunity to enjoy this sector of the industry.
Jamestown is situated 205km north of Adelaide and about one hour’s drive north of the Clare wine growing district.
The journey from Adelaide can be comfortably undertaken in about three hours either through Gawler, Tarlee, Auburn and Clare or via Mallala, Balaklava, Blyth and Clare and then north through Spalding to Jamestown.
The Jamestown Racing Club stages its annual race meeting on the Saturday of the October long weekend and offers patrons a complete ‘picnic’ race meeting through strong fields, total race broadcasting, multi-wagering, SKY, good catering services, on-course entertainment and effective administration. The first race is usually scheduled to start at about 1:00pm.
We invite you to explore this web site to learn more about the history of racing in Jamestown and hope to see you at our next race meeting.
